Interviewer: Guru Dev, my humble salutations.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Blessings to you, my son.
Interviewer: We have been listening to you speak about your deity, the living Shiva of Tarapith, Bama Khepa (Saint Bama). In this session, we would like to hear more about him.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Well, there is much to say. Let me share one story. During Bama's time, many people would visit him. Initially, he wasn't annoyed, but eventually, it became overwhelming—people would fall at his feet, touch him, and ask for blessed dust, oil, or water. This made him very irritable. Once, he even got angry with the Divine Mother Tara. He said to her, "You just sit here, and I have to do all your work?" He started kicking and chasing people away with his trident. He was furious. Then, he decided to confront the Mother in her shrine. Many people tried to stop him, but he wouldn't listen. He even kicked and hit some people with his trident as he entered the shrine. Once inside, he told the Mother, "You sit here comfortably, while I have to deal with so many people. You send them, and I have to do the work?" He said several such things. In response, the Mother slapped him across the face. After being slapped, he said, "Mother, you hit me? I will never enter your shrine again!" Since then, Bama never entered the temple shrine. In his anger, he even cursed the temple, saying, "May a thunderbolt strike your head!" And being a powerful saint, it happened. A thunderbolt struck the temple's pinnacle. Even today, you can see a bent trident there; no one has the power to straighten it. It remains as it was. A new trident has been installed, but the old one remains bent from the impact. You can also see cracks in the temple's pinnacle, though they have been repaired. This was one of the many incidents in Bama's life. He was very hot-tempered, and the constant influx of people often annoyed him.
Interviewer: Guru Dev, you practiced spiritual discipline (Sadhana) in Tarapith for over 12 years. You have also practiced in various other parts of India. During your long journey, you must have gained spiritual strength and enlightenment from your deity, Bama Khepa. If you have any such personal experiences, could you please share a few?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Yes, there are many. I can recall a couple that stand out. These things happen almost every day. Based on what I learned from Bama, I never ask Mother Tara why she sends people to me. I just observe everything silently because I know it is her wish. Once, I was sitting at the temple, and a gentleman sent someone from his office to fetch me. I agreed and went there barefoot. At that time, I didn't wear shoes, and my clothes weren't very impressive either. When I arrived, the man seemed a bit annoyed seeing my appearance—my simple clothes and bare feet. He looked down on me. But despite my outward appearance, I have my spiritual strength. He asked me to look at his palm. I said, "I won't look at your palm now. First, try to survive; if you do, then I'll look at your palm." He was very displeased. I told him he was in great danger and that if he survived, I would see him later. He felt insulted and asked the person who brought me to send me away. I left, feeling a bit hurt as well. Two days later, an Ambassador car arrived here looking for me. A gentleman and a lady got out. The lady asked if I was Shama Khapa (a title given to the Guru). I said yes. She told me she was coming from Lake Market and asked if I had visited an office a few days ago. I said I had. She then told me that the man was in a critical condition and had slipped into a coma. She begged me to visit him at PG Hospital. I went there, assessed the situation, and then went to Tarapith to prepare a special protective amulet. I brought it back to the hospital. While I was about to put it on him, a senior doctor arrived. He suggested a bypass surgery, which was very expensive and rare 25 years ago. The family asked for my opinion, and I told them to go ahead with the surgery but let me put the amulet on him first. The doctor agreed. He survived and is still alive today. Now he has great faith and devotion, which he lacked before. Later, they visited their own spiritual guru, who told them that only the person who visited their office could have saved him. They then realized it was me.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Another incident involved a young man named Karna, who was very devoted to me. Once, he told me he was planning a trip to Kedarnath and asked me to book the tickets. I told him to cancel the tickets. He was surprised, as they had already booked for five people. I insisted. He asked why. I said, "Kedarnath will be destroyed." He couldn't believe it, saying, "How can Kedarnath be destroyed?" But I stood firm. Since he respected me like a guru, he canceled the tickets. Later, when the massive floods hit Kedarnath in 2013, he called me, shocked, as he watched the destruction on TV. I told him, "See, I warned you. If you had gone, you might not have returned."
Guru Shyama Khyapa: There are more stories. Once, Karna and his friends went to Ooty and stayed at a hotel. He fell severely ill with a high fever. There were no doctors nearby. He called me in distress. I sensed his condition and visited him spiritually that night. I touched his head and body, and the next morning, he was completely fine. His friends were puzzled. They asked him, "Who was that bearded man who came to see you last night? You didn't introduce us." He realized what had happened and called me immediately.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: There was another girl who went to Varanasi with her elderly parents. After helping them onto the train, she went to get some food, but the train started moving. She was running desperately to catch it. I could see this from here in my prayer room. I was shouting, "Get on! Get on!" People around me thought I had gone mad. They asked who I was shouting at. I told them a girl was running for a train and I wasn't sure if she'd make it. Half an hour later, she called me, panting, and told me what had happened. Then everyone understood why I was shouting. There are many such incidents that are hard to explain.
Interviewer: Guru Dev, this is what we call Kriya Yoga.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Yes. Just yesterday, I talked about Brahmacharya (celibacy), and this morning, someone from Belur Math came to see me. He said he had seen my video and liked it. He came to seek my blessings. I told him, "You are a practitioner of Brahmacharya, I cannot touch you." But he insisted on my blessings. It was a strange coincidence—I talk about it one day, and the next day, a practitioner shows up. Such things happen frequently and leave a deep impact.
Interviewer: Guru Dev, we have heard something completely new from you today. You spoke about your deity Bama Khepa and the lessons you learned from him, which you now share with your followers.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Yes, in this very room, some people have even seen Bama Khepa. Once, someone claimed to have seen him clearly during a night prayer. He told me, "I saw Bama Khepa; he entered you and merged with you." I told him not to tell anyone. Such things do happen.
Interviewer: Friends, you just heard from Guru Dev about his deity Bama Khepa and the spiritual lessons he has gained. He calls these incidents "coincidences," but in reality, they are not. We just haven't discovered the cause-and-effect relationship behind them yet. That's why Guru Dev says that science will eventually seek refuge in spirituality, not the other way around. When science can explain spirituality, it will become science itself. These words are always an inspiration to us. Please continue to subscribe to our channel, share our videos, and like them.

Spiritual Insight

These profound stories reveal the living tradition of the Khyapa Parampara. Bama Khepa's confrontation with Mother Tara—culminating in a thunderbolt striking the temple—demonstrates the raw, unpredictable power of a true saint. The bent trident still visible today serves as a permanent reminder of this divine drama. Gurudev's own experiences showcase the mysterious workings of Kriya Yoga: prophetic warnings that saved lives, spiritual healing across distances, and the ability to perceive events far away. These are not mere coincidences but manifestations of a deeper science that Gurudev says will one day be understood by modern science itself. The appearance of Bama Khepa to devotees, even merging with Gurudev during prayer, confirms the living presence of this lineage's founder.
