Interviewer:
Gurudev, we see satellites crashing, forest fires in Greece, extreme heatwaves, and landslides in the Himalayas. Is all this chaos happening because we have fully entered the Age of Kali?
Gurudev:
Kali began long ago. Kali is an avatar of this era—he is a fierce form of Narayana himself. While this age is filled with cruelty, it is also called "nectar" because in the Age of Kali, one can attain God-realization faster than in any other era, provided they have a genuine Guru.
The Origins: King Parikshit and the Four Places of Kali
The arrival of Kali dates back to the time of King Parikshit after the Kurukshetra war. Kali appeared to the King as a hideous man beating a three-legged cow. He admitted his nature was cruelty—stating he would "cut out tongues and sell kidneys," which we see literally happening today.
King Parikshit eventually granted Kali four places to reside:
- Wherever alcohol is consumed.
- Wherever women are bought and sold (exploitation).
- Wherever gambling occurs.
- And finally, in gold.
Because the King wore a golden crown, Kali was able to influence his mind, leading him to insult a meditating sage. This resulted in a curse that caused the King's death by the snake Takshaka, after which Kali entered the world without resistance.
Environmental Decay: The Concrete Heat
Gurudev:
Look at the cities today. These high-rise buildings made of cement and crushed stone absorb heat all day and release it at night. We have destroyed the trees and the forests. Even the Sundarbans are being cleared. There is no moisture left in the air, and the groundwater is depleting rapidly. Places like Chennai already have no groundwater left.
Pollution of Water, Land, and Sky
The pollution has now reached the sky. Thousands of satellites and space debris are orbiting the earth. If these materials—often containing toxic elements like uranium—crash back to earth, they will cause unprecedented diseases. The failure of space missions is a warning that we have reached a breaking point.
Gurudev:
The oceans are warming, and marine life is dying. When an era comes to its conclusion, chaos is bound to happen—volcanoes, earthquakes, and floods will remodel the earth. All that humans have destroyed will be wiped clean to eventually make way for a new world. But until then, we are in a life-threatening crisis.
