The Question of Vashikaran and Spiritual Enthrallment
Disciple:
Pranam, Gurudev.
Gurudev:
Pranam.
Disciple:
Gurudev, many people come to you from far and wide. They say things like, "Someone has performed Vashikaran (enthrallment) on me," or "My son or daughter is being controlled by someone else." What is the actual reality behind this?
The Great Delusion: Objects Staying in the Stomach
Gurudev:
It's surprising that even after being with me for so long, you still don't understand this. Many people show things in front of a camera—like a hibiscus flower, or a blue or white clitoria flower. They say, "Look, Baba, this came out of my stomach. I've had this removed five times, and every time, these things come out."
Gurudev:
I think to myself—if anything goes into the stomach, it gets digested or passes out through the stool. Nothing stays there. The "fire" in the stomach has a digestive power that ensures nothing remains whole. If that were the case, everything we eat would come out whole, and we wouldn't even need to pass stool normally! This is just a massive delusion people have.
The Taro Root Sap Fraud: A Real Story
Gurudev:
I know a certain gentleman—I won't name him—whom I used to visit. His entire business was "extracting" these items from people. One morning, a Punjabi man arrived. He bowed down and said, "Baba, please help." The guru replied with some harsh language, "You've finally come? Bring the bowl."
Gurudev:
He brought the bowl. The guru then took some taro root sap—when taro root dries a bit, it becomes very sticky and gummy. He smeared that inside the bowl. He also had some small coconut root fibers ready. He stuck those fibers and some flowers into the gummy sap inside the bowl. Then, he suddenly pressed the bowl against the man's stomach and shouted, "Look what has come out of you! Look what you were fed!" He used all sorts of foul language.
Gurudev:
He then told the man to lie down and went off to the market to buy fish. He left the man lying there for two hours. When he returned, he "removed" the bowl and showed him the fibers and flowers stuck to it. He told the man, "See? I've removed it all. I won't do it again." And for that, he charged the man 10,000 rupees! He took 10,000 rupees and gave the man the bowl as a "souvenir." Some people even take photos of these things coming out of their bodies.
Everything Sticks to the Gum: The Mechanism of Fraud
Disciple:
So, everything stuck to that gum?
Gurudev:
Exactly. And people believe it. I've seen thousands of people believe this. I don't believe in the idea of "feeding" someone spiritual charms. If you swallow something, it gets digested. A whole hibiscus or clitoria flower cannot stay in the stomach. It's physically impossible.
Gurudev:
I know the truth, but I can't always tell people because they might get angry. They show me photos and say, "Gurudev, look what came out of me! I've done this five times!" They are convinced they are being killed by these charms, but it's all in their heads. They are told someone fed them something, and they go back to these frauds once or twice a month. The same thing happens every time.
The Impossible Dream: Nails and Hair Staying in the Stomach
Disciple:
Gurudev, what about stories of "transferring" nails or hair into someone's stomach? Is that real?
Gurudev:
None of it is real. None of it. Look, someone might feed you something harmful—maybe a tantric tells someone, "Feed this to them, and they will be under your control." That happens. But it doesn't stay in the stomach as a physical object like a nail. It either gets vomited out or passed through the system. It's impossible for it to just stay there.
Why People Fall Into the Trap
Gurudev:
People believe in this because they are desperate. I tell them not to go down that path because they will just get cheated out of 5,000 or 10,000 rupees. Even at small shrines, people are charged small amounts for these fake "extractions." At bigger places, the minimum is 10,000 rupees. I've traveled a lot and met many tantrics, so I know how this works. It's a distortion of spirituality.
Real Spiritual Power: Kriya Yoga
Disciple:
If someone actually wanted to cause harm, how would they do it? What is the real method?
Gurudev:
Real "actions" (Kriya) are performed differently. In Kriya Yoga, we don't perform actions on people. That is a sin. We perform actions on nature. For example, if a massive storm is coming or a natural disaster is imminent, we can perform a Kriya to divert it.
Disciple:
You mean you can reduce its power?
Gurudev:
We can turn the storm away. We bypass it. That is true Kriya. Real Kriya Yogis never use their power against humans.
The Story of Swami Vivekananda's Healing
Gurudev:
There is a story about Swami Vivekananda when he was once very ill in Cuttack. No doctor could cure him, not even the best British doctors. They said he wouldn't survive the night. His mother was devastated. Just then, a monk appeared at the door. He asked, "What happened, Mother?" She said, "My son is dying." The monk went in, performed a Kriya on his body, and left. The next day, Vivekananda was perfectly fine. The doctors were stunned. That is the power of Kriya. That monk was said to be a young Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in some legends, but the point is, that is how real spiritual power works—it heals, it doesn't harm.
The Exploitation of Desperation
Disciple:
But Gurudev, you don't do these things for money, but many others do.
Gurudev:
As the poet Ramprasad said, "Some seek the path to the Divine, while others fall into the abyss." Those who do these things for money will eventually crumble. It's a sad state of affairs. People are helpless and they run from place to place, spending thousands.
Gurudev:
One lady came to me after spending 100,000 rupees elsewhere. She told my students, "I've spent over a lakh, let's see what happens here." When she found out we don't charge a single penny, she couldn't believe it. My temple doesn't take money, and that is my strength.
Teasing About Payment
Gurudev:
People ask me, "What is your visit fee?" I joke with them. I ask, "What is your profession? If you are a police officer, the fee is one thing. If you are a doctor or a lawyer, it's another." They don't realize I'm teasing. One woman said, "Baba, I'm in a very bad state, I wash dishes for a living." I told her, "Then you don't have to pay a single paisa."
Helping the Powerless
Gurudev:
If someone doesn't even have the money for the bus fare to get here, I provide it for them. I've seen people who say, "Baba, I really want to visit you, but I have no money." I tell them to borrow the money to get here, and I will give it back to them when they arrive so they can pay off their debt.
The Fleeting Nature of Money
Gurudev:
People have become so obsessed with money. But what will you do with it? God gives with one hand and takes with the other. Money is fleeting.
Disciple:
Pranam, Gurudev.
Gurudev:
Pranam. We shall end here for today.
