Gurudev, pranam (greetings).
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Pranam, pranam.
Interviewer:
Today, on our \"Gupto Sadhok Shyama Khyapa\" YouTube channel, I would like to ask you about a very academic subject. In your various episodes, even though the topics are spiritual, you provide a beautiful scientific explanation for them. This is especially appreciated by our viewers, devotees, and followers. Personally, I feel your perspective is extremely relevant in todayâs age. In your temple, you have written: \"Science will always be subservient to spirituality, but spirituality will never be subservient to science.\" Regarding this relationship between spirituality and scienceâmeaning today's materialism and consumerismâis it a relationship of opposition, or are they complementary to each other? I would like to hear your thoughts on this today.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
No, no, absolutely. There is no fundamental difference between science and spirituality. The difference lies in our perspective. Itâs a matter of how we see things. For instance, science says mixing hydrogen and oxygen creates water. You can see this happen, right? Science says H2O equals water. But spirituality says something else. If we look at the Vedas, it says that primal forces like Varun are the creators of water.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Now, through science, you might be able to create a bucket of water by mixing hydrogen and oxygen. But the vast amount of water required for our survival, for sustenance, for agricultureâscience cannot create that. At that point, science must turn to spirituality. When there is a drought, what do we do? People here walk barefoot to pour water on Nakuleshwar's head. Why? Because itâs not raining. And it is said that when water falls on Nakuleshwar, the rain comes. How would you explain that scientifically? So, science is fine; it demonstrates things practically. But its scope is limited. It cannot go beyond its boundaries. Spirituality is not like that. Spirituality operates far beyond the limits of science.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Take todayâs solar science, for example. What is spirituality doing? Through the power of Yoga, it seeks to know what is happening within the Sun, what lies inside it. And what is science doing? They are sending spacecraft. They might succeed, or they might not. But spirituality will always succeed. So, the power of science is limited. Science explores materials that already exist. But our sages and saints spoke of these things a long time ago. Though it might seem irrelevant now, it isn't. Let science create enough water to bring rain to an entire state! A forest fire is burningâcan science stop it? Science has advanced so much, yet why canât it stop a forest fire or an earthquake as it happens? Therefore, spirituality exists at a much higher level than science.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Consider our sources of strength: the Vedas, Vedanta, Vedanga, the Gita, the Bhagavatâthese are our true powers. Materialists have not been able to take these away. India has been plundered many times. The Shakas, Huns, Mongols, Pathansâthey all came and looted. But the wealth they took has no real value to people like us. Truly, it means nothing to us. What is truly valuable is what they couldn't take: the Gita, the Bhagavat, the Vedas, the Vedanta. Science is hidden within these. Science is hidden within the Vedas. In ancient times, when sages recited the Vedas, they did so in the name of 24 deities. They eventually realized that these 24 deities are the ones running the world.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Then there is the discovery of the ten directions. There are ten guardians (Dikpalas) who maintain these directions. What you see today as Vastu or Feng Shui was spoken of by us long ago. Where to place the kitchen, the toilets, the windows, the doorsâall this was already specified. Today, itâs called Feng Shui. But the ancient saying was: \"A house with a south-facing door is for a king; one with an east-facing door is for his subjects. North-facing doors bring dust and poverty, and west-facing doors bring no revenue.\" This isn't a new saying; it's very old, though children aren't taught it anymore. But Feng Shui says the same thing.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
When clouds form in the sky, if they are in the east, we say \"Pube ore\" (flying in the east). But if they are in the west, we say it will rain. We have a saying: \"Pube ore, poshchime bore\" (it flies in the east, it pours in the west). This is a very valuable saying. In the east is Indra, the primal power. Initially, when there was terrifying thunder and lightning, the sages wondered who was behind it. They didn't initially identify them as gods, but they thought of Indra. Indra is the lord of thunder; he is the one who strikes with lightning. Therefore, remember Indra, perform pujas for Indra. Then they realized Varun is in the west. Thatâs why if clouds are in the east, the clouds just disperse. But if there are clouds in the west, there will be heavy rain.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Then they discovered that in the north lies the Himalayas. The great Himalayas guard our India. The Himalayas are not just the abode of Lord Mahadev. It is a center of magnetic power. Thousands of sages are sitting in caves there, performing penance and sacred rituals (Yajnas). They are doing this for the sake of the whole world. Since we are in India, we say they are doing it for India, but they are doing it for the entire world. And it has a radius of influence. That's why we face north or east during prayer. We are told the north has magnetic power and vibration.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Lord Mahadev once told Parvati regarding Kailash that he could no longer stay there. Parvati asked, \"Why, Lord? Why can't we stay in Kailash? It is the best place for us.\" He replied, \"Human feet will touch this land, they will defecate here; therefore, we cannot stay.\" She asked, \"Where will we go then?\" He said, \"We will go to an inaccessible place. There is a hill called Chandrachur in Sylhet, Bangladesh. We will live there.\" So, they left Kailash, the heaven on earth. Where does Mahadev reside now? On Chandrachur Hill, an inaccessible peak in Sylhet. He said this because humans would set foot there. Although no one can reach the very top of Kailash where the Mother's temple isâeveryone who tried has diedâMahadev foresaw that humans would eventually reach it. And in the future, they might. Humans today don't believe in spirituality; they only want to discover new things. Every moment, they are obsessed with discovery. So, currently, Lord Mahadev and Goddess Durga reside on Chandrachur Hill in Bangladesh. That is the situation.
Interviewer:
I have a question regarding this. Youâve mentioned in various episodes that spirituality is also a higher form of science.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Absolutely. There is no mistake in that.
Interviewer:
And we also feel, based on common sense, that what spirituality says today will eventually become 'science' once science discovers it. But spirituality is...
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Look, in the past, people traveled through the sky, and some still do. Planes hadn't been invented then, but people could move through the air. If you watch old films, you see Narayana traveling through the sky, or Shiva traveling through the sky. This was a technology. It was an ancient technologyâthe technology of spirituality, achieved through Yoga and penance. Today, great Yogis still travel through the air. They don't eat the cultivated food that we eat. They are consumers of air and energy. Tell me, can science explain how they live for 2500 to 3000 years?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
A very famous surgeon once came to me. I asked him, \"Doctor, you are a great surgeon, but can you save even one person who has died? Can you bring them back?\" He said it wasn't possible. However, he told me that in America, hundreds of dead bodies are preserved in the hope that they might one day be brought back to life or achieve immortality. They are even wrapped in wires and connected to electricity. I was amazed by his story. Millions are spent on the chance that a person might become living again. But can science give a person a life of 2500 years? Science cannot, but spirituality can.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
In places like Gyanganj or Gyanpith, there are individuals who have lived for 1500, 2000, or even 3000 years. How is this possible? Because they know the process. Our body is made of seven elements, including gold, silver, copper, and tin. These elements in our body decay over time. These sages create a form of medicinal ash from these metals, and by consuming it, their lifespan extends to thousands of years. They replenish the body's decay in this way. They know this technology, which is unknown to others. Many kings and emperors, even Akbar, tried to learn this secret of immortality. Akbar even sent people to Gyanganj, but he failed. China has tried many times to uncover this technology, but it will never be revealed. It is by the grace of Lord Mahadev that no unauthorized person can set foot in Gyanganj.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
So, the science we follow is limited. You might say everything today runs on science. Light bulb glows in the dark because of science. But can this light illuminate the whole world? It can only light up a limited area. But the Sunâwhen it rises, it lights up all of India, even the whole world. Science cannot advance further than this.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
We say to the Gurudev: \"Akhanda Mandalakaram Byaptam Jena Characharam\" (The one who pervades the entire universe of moving and unmoving objects). One who can perceive both the animate and inanimate from one place is 'Akhanda' (undivided)âthat is the Gurudev. One who has no fragments. From where you sit, you can only see a small space. But the Sadguru, the great spiritual practitioner, can see the whole world from where he sits. This is the difference between the fragmented and the undivided. You see only a small space. Those like me, we try to see the whole world through Yoga, through Kriya Yoga. And we are able to reach that state.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
It is a wave, like Ether. Often, we communicate with great souls through this Ether. Think about how a TV worksâitâs through Ether rays. Radio works through Ether. So, there is something called Ether which practitioners use the most. Sages and saints communicate through Ether. They talk to someone who might be five hundred or even two thousand miles away.
Interviewer:
