Devotee: Greetings, Gurudev.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Greetings.
Devotee: I also greet our audience as we begin today's episode. Gurudev, you previously shared some remedies (totkas) for the well-being of people. We've seen how well the public accepted them and applied them in their lives to attain peace and prosperity. Today, I'd like to ask for a few more remedies that could help people improve their circumstances.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: You see, many people come to me these days burdened by debt. They say, "Gurudev, I am drowning in debt; how can I be free?" The current situation is such that many have taken loans from banks, friends, or neighbors and are unable to repay them. This creates a vicious cycle—people take one loan to pay off another.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: I have a remedy for this. I learned it while I was in the Narmada region. There is a temple dedicated to Rina Mukteshwar Shiva (Shiva, the Liberator from Debt) hidden deep within the forests of Narmada. It's a beautiful place. When I visited, I asked about the significance of this Shiva. They explained that those who are burdened by debt and cannot find a way out should perform a specific ritual to be liberated.
Devotee: What is the ritual?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: You need to take whole black gram (biulir dal). It must be whole, not broken. Clean it thoroughly so no black husks remain. Soak it in Ganga water overnight. In the morning, go to an established Shiva temple—one where daily prayers are offered and the temple bell rings regularly.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Take some flowers, wood apple leaves (bel pata), Ganga water, and the soaked black gram. Offer them to Shiva. If you cannot do it yourself, ask a priest to offer the gram on the head of the Shiva Lingam. Perform the puja with incense and lamps, and pray: "O Rina Mukteshwar Shiva, please liberate me from my debts. I offer this puja to you and will continue to do so once I am free." Usually, doing this once or twice is enough. Many have found relief through this. Shiva's grace is essential to clearing the burden of debt.
Devotee: That is a wonderful remedy. What about the influence of Rahu?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Rahu is a very mischievous planet. Many people come to me suffering from its effects. The presiding deity of Rahu is Goddess Chinnamasta. Rahu is often depicted as a severed head, and Chinnamasta is the goddess who holds her own severed head.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: To mitigate Rahu's ill effects, there are a few things one can do. The Lead and Black Wood Remedy: Buy a small piece of lead (sisha) and some black wood. You can wear this as an amulet on a Saturday or Tuesday. No special purification is needed; just wear it in the name of Goddess Chinnamasta.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: The Sandalwood Remedy: If you can get authentic sandalwood—not the common kind, but high-quality wood—it is very effective. Alternatively, at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, sandalwood is applied to the deity every day and then removed in the evening. If you can obtain some of that "Mahaprasad" sandalwood, place it inside an amulet.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: However, this sandalwood must be purified using Panchagavya (five products of the cow: milk, curd, ghee, urine, and dung) and Panchamrita. There are specific mantras for this that a priest should recite.
Devotee: How would a common person perform this purification?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: It's best to have a priest do it. There are five specific mantras for the five elements. For example, for the cow's urine (gochona), there is a mantra; for curd (dadhi), there is another. Curd is said to increase the lifespan of the soul. Milk is associated with strength. Once the sandalwood is purified with these five nectars, it becomes very powerful.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Wearing this purified sandalwood is a great remedy because the Navagraha (nine planets) are situated at the top of the Jagannath Temple, and they are said to fear the Lord. Thus, Rahu's influence is significantly diminished.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: The Blood and Wood Apple Leaf Remedy: There is another, more intense remedy. Go to a place where daily animal sacrifices (bali) are performed, such as Kalighat, Tarapith, or Kamakhya. Take a wood apple leaf and, standing before the sacrificial altar (harikatha), draw a small drop of your own blood (by pricking a finger or a small scratch—do not use a blade for deep cuts). Place the blood on three wood apple leaves and offer it at the altar. Bow your head and say, "Rahu, I have given you the blood you crave. Now, leave me in peace." Then, take a bit of the soil from the altar and apply it as a mark (tilak) on your forehead.
Devotee: These are very specific and powerful tips. What about Ketu?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: For Ketu, the presiding deity is Goddess Dhumavati. She is often depicted as a widow riding a chariot drawn by crows. Ketu is a planet that can lead to lowly acts—drinking, theft, or misconduct—but if Ketu is well-placed, it can make one a great lawyer, doctor, or successful professional.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: The best remedy for Ketu is feeding crows. Crows are very dear to Goddess Dhumavati. If you can feed a crow daily, it is incredibly beneficial. Crows are very punctual—if you feed them at 11:00 AM every day, they will be there exactly at 11:00 AM.
Devotee: Is there anything specific we should feed them?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: They prefer meat or fish, but you can feed them whatever you have—biscuits, puffed rice, or bread. Just make sure it is fresh, not stale. Feeding them with your own hands regularly will bring Ketu's blessings.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: There is also a mantra for Ketu/Dhumavati: "Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Dhumavatye Phat Swaha." Chanting this 108 times daily is very helpful.
Devotee: Gurudev, thank you for sharing these insights. Dear audience, we have discussed how to be liberated from debt through Rina Mukteshwar Shiva and how to manage the influences of Rahu and Ketu. Apply these in your lives with faith, and by the grace of Gurudev, may everyone find peace and prosperity.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: May everyone be well. That is my only wish. While some may not believe in planetary influences, for those who do, these remedies can be life-changing.
Devotee: Thank you, Gurudev. We conclude today's episode here. Pronams.
