The ancient texts of Bharata โ€” the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Gita โ€” continue to reveal secrets as and when the Deity wills it. They would have always been there, but it is only when the time is right that their deeper meanings surface. Through the commentary of scholars like Dushyanth Sridhar, even when the speaker intends a different message, the Deity's will ensures that those chosen for a specific path will extract more meanings from the same words.

The Ramayana is universally known as the story of Hanuman's devotion to Sri Rama. But there is a far greater message hidden within it โ€” one that most overlook. It is the story of Sri Rama's own Sampoorna Bhakti Marga (Complete Path of Devotion) toward Maa Adya. And the key to this revelation lies in understanding who Ma Sita truly is.

Ma Sita Is Maa Adya Kali

The Sahasranamavali (the 1008 names) of Maa Adya Kali contains a profound secret: within those names, one finds Ma Sati, Ma Sita, and Ma Yashoda. This means that Ma Sita โ€” the wife of Sri Rama, the Queen of Ayodhya, the one born from the Earth โ€” is none other than a form of Adishakti, Maa Adya herself.

Just as the origins of Maa Adya are unknown โ€” "so ancient is She that even the Devaloka has no clue on her origins" โ€” Ma Sita too has no known parentage. She emerged from the Bhumi (Earth) without mother or father. This is not a coincidence. It is a design. She is the Adhya โ€” the First.

The Empowerment of the Rama Nama

It is said that reciting the name "Rama" three times carries the power of the entire Vishnu Sahasranama โ€” all 1008 names of Vishnu. This fact was established by Mahadeva himself, when Ma Parvati asked him to speak about the glory of Sri Rama's name.

But the deeper meaning is this: the Rama Nama is not powerful simply because Sri Rama was the greatest Dharma Guru or the most righteous King. It is powerful because of Ma Sita's Tapasya over that name. When she sat under the Ashoka Vatika tree in Lanka, she recited "Rama, Rama, Rama" ceaselessly. It was Adishakti herself who did the Sadhana of Sri Rama's name while sitting under that tree. That is what empowers the Rama Nama โ€” not Sri Rama alone, but Maa Adya's devotion within the name.

Why Hanuman Could Not Take Ma Sita

When Hanuman landed in Lanka and found Ma Sita, he introduced himself as "Rama Bhakta Hanuman" โ€” Sri Rama's devotee, Sri Rama's Duta (messenger). He did not call himself a devotee of Ma Sita. Every fiber of Hanuman ached for Sri Rama. That is why he attained the Ashta Siddhi Navanidhi โ€” the eight supernatural powers and nine treasures.

Hanuman could have easily carried Ma Sita back across the sea. He had already burned Lanka to the ground. Yet Ma Sita refused to go with him. Most interpret this as her protecting Sri Rama's honor and Dharma. But there is a far deeper message hidden here.

Ma Sita said: "I have to take care of the honor of my husband, Sri Rama. Let him come and take me."

This was not about a wife's duty to a husband. It was about Maa Adya establishing the fundamental law of her path: Only he who has gone in Her path, thought about Her 24/7/365, and kept Her at the highest level will be able to attain Her.

Hanuman, the ever-powerful Ashta Siddhi Navanidhi Data, was the Bhakta of Her Bhakta. Sri Rama's every fiber ached for Ma Sita. Sri Rama's tongue, mind, heart, and every breath was consumed by her. Hanuman's tongue carried Sri Rama's name. But in Sri Rama's tongue, Ma Sita resided.

The message is unmistakable: even if you hold all the Ashta Siddhis and Navanidhis, even if you have attained the highest enlightenment โ€” if Maa Adya is not the one rolling on your tongue, you are not eligible to attain her. She values Bhakti above all supernatural powers. Even the greatest, most enlightened being โ€” Hanuman โ€” was denied the opportunity because he was Sri Rama's Bhakta, not hers directly.

Sri Rama: The Ideal Bhakta

This reveals Sri Rama's true position. He is not merely a Dharma Guru or an Avatar of Vishnu. He is the ideal Bhakta of Maa Adya. His entire life was a living embodiment of how to worship her.

Even in the worst circumstances of Vanavasa (forest exile), Sri Rama ensured that Ma Sita was adorned with new silk saris and jewels every day. He himself wore the Valkalam โ€” rough bark clothing for camouflage โ€” but he would not allow Ma Sita to be reduced to the level of his suffering. This was not about a king's resources; it was about the Bhakta's devotion.

The message to every seeker is clear: no matter how badly your life is crumbling โ€” career failing, relationships collapsing, everything falling apart โ€” Maa Adya must be kept at the highest. You cannot blame your circumstances. If you are in the Vanavasa, you still adore her with silk and ornaments. The silk and ornaments are not literal; they represent your Prana, your blood, your every fiber of being. That is the Bhakti she demands.

Ma Sita: The Grand Architect of the Ramayana

Ma Sita was never a victim of the Ramayana. She was its Grand Architect. Every pivotal event was orchestrated by her:

The timing is everything. All of these arrivals happened only after Ma Sita's arrival in the Ashrama. She had orchestrated the entire sequence.

Brahma's Secret Bow

When Brahma, along with Ma Saraswati and Ma Gayatri, was about to leave the Ashrama, he looked toward Ma Sita's seat and bowed his head completely โ€” as if he had met the greatest Shakti.

Ma Saraswati โ€” the Mother of the Vedas โ€” and Ma Gayatri herself were surprised. They did not recognize who Ma Sita was. They asked Brahma: "Why have you bowed to this exiled Queen like you have seen Maha Vishnu or Mahadeva himself?"

Brahma's answer was simple and devastating: "That is my Mother."

In the Shakti path, who is the Mother of Brahma? Adishakti. Who is the Mother of Vishnu? Adishakti. Who is the Mother of Maheshwara? Adishakti. What is the origin of Adishakti? Unknown. What is the origin of Ma Sita? Unknown.

Brahma recognized what even the Goddess of Knowledge and the Mother of the Vedas could not. Because he knew: Mother hai (She is the Mother). This single moment in the Ramayana establishes that Ma Sita is the Creator of the Trimurtis, the Architect of all Creation, and the Adishakti herself.

Do Not Fear Mispronunciation

Many seekers worry about correct pronunciation of mantras and slokas. But Maa Adya cannot be codified in mantras. She cannot be captured in correct syllables. She values Bhakti โ€” complete, unconditional, all-consuming devotion โ€” above every ritual precision.

If there is a mistake, she will correct it. The message from the Ramayana is: even when Sri Rama or Lakshmana strayed from the path, Ma Sita pulled them back. If the ever-powerful Hanuman โ€” who could pronounce every mantra perfectly โ€” was not given the opportunity because he lacked the specific Bhakti toward Ma Adya, then what does a mere mispronunciation matter?

Run toward her, mispronounce and all. She will still come. Bhakti se chalega (Bhakti will work).

The Role of Bhairava

Kala Bhairava is the Guru who gives the pedestal โ€” the strength and stability โ€” to hold the Vidya of Maa Adya. Bhairava Sadhana builds the foundation so that the devotee becomes strong enough to carry her Shakti. But the path must be clear: one ultimately wants to go to Maa Adya. Bhairava accelerates and stabilizes; Maa Adya liberates.

Conclusion

The Ramayana is still revealing its secrets. A thousand years ago, Sri Ramanujar found eighteen secrets in eighteen annual recitations of the Ramayana. Today, new meanings continue to surface โ€” because it is Maa Adya's will.

She is the Architect of the Shakti Peethas, the Guru of the Mahavidyas, the creator of the Trimurtis, the writer of the Ramayana, Ma Radha with Sri Krishna, Panchali with the Pandavas, and the force behind every divine play in our scriptures. Her path is Sampoorna Bhakti โ€” nothing more, nothing less.

Read the Ramayana again, but this time from the perspective of Shakti. Look at it through Ma Sita's eyes. You will begin to see what Brahma saw when he bowed โ€” the Mother of all Creation, sitting in a forest Ashrama, waiting for the world to recognize who she truly is.

Bhairava Kalike Namostute.
