Pranam, Gurudev. Recently, I visited a temple. For the past several years, I have been suffering from pain in my right hand. I consulted many doctors and healers, but nothing worked. At that temple, there was a Guru whom I told about my pain. He simply said, "Go home, your pain will go away." For the last two or three days, I have felt that the pain in my hand is gone. Gurudev, what exactly is this phenomenon?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
This is known as Reiki. Its origins are in Japan, and its founder was Lord Buddha himself—an incarnation of Narayana. You could say it was his final avatar before the Kalki avatar. Lord Buddha discovered Reiki. To say that it doesn't work today would be incorrect; it is still very effective.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
A gentleman named Mikao Usui, who was in Nepal, mastered this art while meditating in the mountains. From there, it first became popular in Japan. Since Japan is a Buddhist nation, Reiki became widely established there.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Anyone can practice this, but it requires specific training. One must understand anatomy—knowing what protects what in the body, from internal organs to hair, nails, and teeth. There are books and classes for this. It involves a physical technique of rubbing the hands together, but it goes deeper. If the Kundalini and the Swadhisthana chakra are not awakened, these things cannot be performed effectively.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
When the Kundalini awakens, the "Third Eye" (Ajna Chakra) opens. Along with the Manipur, Vishuddha, and other chakras, the Mooladhara is the foundation. Once these are awakened, you gain the power of the Third Eye.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Shirdi Sai Baba of Mumbai was perhaps the most proficient in this. It is said that once, when cholera was ravaging a village, he asked for some water, sprinkled it around, and told the people that the cholera would stop—and it did. He also had the power to take people's pain upon himself. If someone complained of a stomach ache, he would drink some water and manifest the pain in his own body until the other person was healed. There are millions of such miraculous stories about him.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Today, Japan is not suffering as much from crises like COVID because Reiki is practiced in almost every household there. They perform it at home, which is why they have found such success. We are not doing it here, but if we did, we could overcome many such diseases.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
There are two main methods: The Crystal Method involves using crystals on the seven primary energy centers of the body (Mooladhara, Kundalini, Swadhisthana, Manipur, Vishuddha, Ajna). This is very effective.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
The Angel Method involves invoking "angels" or "fairies" (Poris). We have heard many stories about them, and they still exist today. They are used to perform healing. For example, if you are in Mumbai or Delhi and you call me for help, I can perform Reiki from here, and the person there will recover. The "Angel" performs the task. One must invoke the Angel and remember the Guru. There is a girl in Delhi who is exceptionally skilled in this type of Reiki. If you ever get the chance, I will introduce you to her.
