Narrator: Greetings. Our Gurudev, the hidden spiritual practitioner Sri Sri Syama Khapa, resides at the Shantipunj Ashram in the Rajapur cemetery. He has practiced spiritual meditation for 40 years. Through his divine vision, he has acquired profound knowledge, which he shares with the world via YouTube for the welfare of all. At the Shantipunj Ashram, he has been performing the Mahamrityunjaya Yajna for world peace for a thousand days. He continues to perform prayers, meditations, and rituals for the well-being of the general public. People from various parts of the world visit the ashram to seek Syama Khapa's blessings and initiation. Through conversation, new insights emerge; let us listen to Syama Khapa as he discusses a new topic.
Devotee: Gurudev, we often see that whenever we visit a temple or attend a religious ritual, people are given Charanamrita. What exactly is this Charanamrita?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Look, Charanamrita is essentially the water used to bathe the deities, such as Mahadev or Narayan. That water is then distributed to the devotees for consumption. However, this is entirely different from Pancha Amrita.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Pancha Amrita consists of five specific "nectars." As followers of the Vedic tradition, we prepare Pancha Amrita through various rituals. It offers many benefits to people. What you see in temples is the "snan-jal" or bathing water, commonly known as Charanamrita, which is given for peace. But Pancha Amrita is a combination of five specific elements mentioned in the Vedas. It is prepared for major rituals like Durga Puja and is used to purify everything offered to the deities.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: The five elements of Pancha Amrita are: Gocona (Cow Urine): There is currently a lot of controversy in the market regarding cow urine. However, our Vedas state: "Gandhadwaram duradharsham nitya-pushtam karishinim..." This means cow urine provides constant nourishment. We consume it for nutrition. It is scientifically grounded; it provides the body with essential nutrients that many of us lack. Consuming a spoonful or two daily, mixed with other elements, provides vital nourishment.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Dugdha (Milk): Milk is considered a form of Som (vitality). In ancient times, sages would prepare a nutritious broth for Lord Indra and consume Som-ras for strength. Eventually, the Som plant became scarce. Sages began to look for alternatives and identified cow's milk as a source of Som. This is why cow slaughter was prohibited and cow rearing became a priority—to ensure the supply of this "strength-giving" milk. As the saying goes, "Milk brings strength; greens bring waste." Lord Krishna himself was known for consuming milk and butter.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Dadhi (Yogurt/Curd): Yogurt is a powerful substance. Even doctors recommend consuming diluted yogurt (lassi) to keep the stomach cool. It is highly nutritious. Yogurt is identified as a nectar because it improves the taste of food and cools the body. The Vedas state that yogurt enhances one's life force and longevity.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Ghrita (Ghee): Our scriptures say, "Rinam kritva ghritam pibet"—which means one should consume ghee even if they have to borrow money to afford it. Ghee is essential for increasing Shukra (vitality/reproductive health). For those lacking in vitality, regular consumption of ghee is highly beneficial. It is considered a divine nectar for the body.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Kushodak (Kusha Water): This is water infused with Kusha grass. Kusha is considered sacred and its water is treated as a nectar.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: These five elements together form Pancha Amrita. In our tradition, we have a ritual for young girls when they first reach puberty. To purify the womb, we have them consume Pancha Amrita while chanting the Gayatri Mantra. Purification is essential; nothing can be offered to God without being purified.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: We also advise mothers to have their daughters pick flowers and weave a garland with their own hands to offer to Lord Shiva. Some people believe that during menstruation, one shouldn't touch anything or go anywhere. There is a need for awareness here. We use Pancha Amrita to cleanse the womb so that the future offspring may be healthy and brilliant.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Purification is required for everything—be it a talisman, a ring, or Rudraksha beads. This is entirely science-based. The ancient sages and monks left us these instructions for a reason. Without purification, God does not accept offerings. Unfortunately, these practices are being ignored today, leading to various "bad effects" and complications later in life.
