Guru Shyama Khyapa: If you wish to worship, worship Lord Narasimha and wear His Kavacha (amulet). The Narasimha Kavacha is immensely powerful, though making it is very difficult. Many people have been cured of severe diseases just by wearing the Narasimha Kavacha. I have seen this with my own eyes.
Narrator: Pranam, Gurudev.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Pranam, pranam. Tell me.
Narrator: Hello viewers, today we have brought you a new episode. Welcome to the Guptasadhak Shyamakhyapa 2.0 channel. As you know from our previous videos, we have been discussing the Dashavatara (Ten Avatars). Earlier, I mistakenly referred to it as Sri Krishna's Dashavatara, but it should correctly be called the Dashavatara of Lord Vishnu or Narayana. Today, we will discuss the Narasimha Avatar. I request Gurudev to share his thoughts and explain the Narasimha Avatar in his own words.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Look, out of the ten avatars of Lord Narayana, we have already covered the previous ones. This is the fourth avatar. At this stage of the avatars, the transition from animal to human takes place. He is neither fully animal nor fully human—He is the half-lion, half-human Narasimha Avatar.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: There was a demon king named Hiranyakashipu. He had a destiny (boon) that he would be killed by a creature that was half-human and half-animal. Hiranyakashipu had a son named Prahlada. From the time he was born, Hiranyakashipu was strictly anti-Narayana. He declared, No one in my kingdom is allowed to chant Narayana's name. Anyone who does will be killed.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: But Prahlada did not listen. He worshipped and chanted Lord Narayana's name every day. Seeing this, Hiranyakashipu became furious and subjected his own son to immense torture. He threw him into water and pushed him off a mountain, but every single time, Lord Narayana saved him. Hiranyakashipu subjected Prahlada to every possible torment—throwing him from high places, tossing him into boiling water and hot oil—leaving nothing out. But Prahlada knew in his heart that one day, his Lord would come, protect him, and slay his father.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: One day, while physically and mentally torturing Prahlada, Hiranyakashipu pointed to a pillar in the palace. Prahlada said, What are you doing, father? My Lord Narayana resides even in this pillar. Hiranyakashipu scoffed, Keep your Narayana to yourself! and kicked the pillar. Instantly, the Narasimha Avatar emerged from it. He was Lord Narayana in a half-man, half-lion form.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: He captured Hiranyakashipu. Narasimha spoke to Prahlada affectionately, acknowledging the immense suffering the boy had endured for His sake. Prahlada humbly surrendered his body and soul to the Lord. Following this, the Narasimha Avatar killed Hiranyakashipu.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Know one thing: the Narasimha Avatar is the greatest and most powerful avatar of Lord Narayana. His power is incredibly fierce. We have seen this in Tantra as well, while reciting mantras.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Therefore, if you wish to worship, worship Lord Narasimha and wear His Kavacha. The Narasimha Kavacha is extremely powerful. Many people have been freed from major, severe diseases by wearing it; I have seen this with my own eyes. I used to make them in the past, but I have stopped now because my health no longer permits it. Do you have anything else to add?
Narrator: No, Gurudev, everything you said is perfectly correct. Actually, Lord Brahma had granted Hiranyakashipu a boon that he could not be killed by a human or an animal. He also couldn't be killed during the day or at night, which is why Lord Narasimha chose the twilight hour (Godhuli Lagna)—the exact time between day and night. Furthermore, the boon stated he couldn't be killed on the ground or in the sky. Therefore, Lord Narasimha placed Hiranyakashipu on His lap (thighs), tore his chest open with His claws, and drank his blood. That is the essence of the story.
Narrator: So, viewers, you just heard about the Narasimha Avatar directly from Gurudev. As we continue our discussions on the Dashavatara, I always make a request at the end of every episode. Since the Holy Name (Harinam) is everything, we will now listen to a little Harinam in Gurudev's holy voice, and then we will conclude.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. Harer Namaiva Kevalam. (The Holy Name is the only way) Kalau Nastyeva, Nastyeva, Nastyeva Gatir Anyatha. (In Kali Yuga, there is absolutely no other way)
Guru Shyama Khyapa: In the age of Kali Yuga, there is no salvation without chanting the Holy Name. There is no need for elaborate worship in this age; doing Harinam Sankirtan is the absolute best path. I have said this before, I say it in every episode, and I am saying it again: Kalau Nastyeva, Nastyeva, Nastyeva Gatir Anyatha. In Kali Yuga, no other doors are open. Just chant this 16-word, 32-letter mantra:
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. Harer Namaiva Kevalam, Harer Namaiva Kevalam, Harer Namaiva Kevalam. Kalau Nastyeva, Nastyeva, Nastyeva Gatir Anyatha.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Haribol! Haribol! Everyone, chant the Holy Name. Stay healthy, stay well.
Narrator: Pranam, Gurudev.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Pranam.
