Interviewer:
Gurudev, upon arriving at Shantikunj today, I noticed something very strange. The chain that you used to bind Mother's feet... today, I saw that the chain is gone.
Gurudev:
Yes, I have freed Mother. A certain incident occurred. Usually, I arrive here after 4:00 PM, and there are typically ten to twenty people around. But today, I arrived earlier, at 3:30 PM. The place was completely empty; not a soul was in sight. Those who were here were all asleep.
Gurudev:
As I was sitting there alone, a "mad girl" suddenly appeared. I wouldn't exactly call her "mad," but she came to Mother's door and started talking to her at length. I didn't say anything. I noticed she had alta (red dye) and vermillion in her hands. She was talking to Mother as if she were in deep conversation. Suddenly, she came and sat right in front of my feet, leaning her back against them. She sat there for a long time. I kept telling her, "Go, get up from here," but she wouldn't budge.
Gurudev:
After a long while, she asked me, "Will you give me some water?" I had a bottle of water with me, so I gave it to her. She then asked, "Can I take this bottle with me?" I said, "Yes, take it, no problem." And so, she left.
Gurudev:
However, as she was walking away, I was stunned. On her feet, she had a lock—exactly like the one I had put on Mother's feet. It was a single lock and a chain with two loops, identical to the one I used to bind Mother. I called out to Shyamal, "Look at the lock on her feet!" He said, "Yes, Gurudev, the lock on Mother's feet is the same as the one on her feet."
Gurudev:
She walked away slowly. Two or three minutes later—the gate was closed at the time—I heard the sound of someone crying. I called the others and told them to check if that girl had returned. They went out and said, "There is no one here. It's completely silent. The crematorium is closed, and there isn't a single person around."
Gurudev:
She had simply vanished. I haven't seen that girl since. But seeing that lock on her feet gave me chills. It made me wonder: am I making a mistake by keeping Mother in chains? Perhaps Mother was showing me something. I have never seen a lock like that on anyone's feet—two chains and a single lock, identical to Mother's. My doubt grew. After thinking about it for a long time and hearing that crying, my heart grew heavy.
Gurudev:
I said, "Remove the chain from Mother's feet." There is no need for it anymore; let Mother be free of her bonds. I come here solely for her; there is no other reason. People have said many things to me about why I kept her feet chained, and I listened to them all. Perhaps it was my own delusion or ignorance. But Mother showed me today that the lock must be opened. So, I opened it. Shortly after she left, I removed the chain.
Gurudev:
Now, I feel very light. I feel a certain relief. I feel a bit sad, but mostly, I feel very light. I have no more doubts. I have freed Mother.
Interviewer:
Gurudev, I have a question. Did you originally put that chain on her because, as a child, you wanted to keep Mother close to you and prevent her from leaving?
Gurudev:
Yes, I did that after the Mrityunjay Puja. On two occasions, I couldn't find her when I came. Out of that feeling, I bought a lock and chain to keep her bound.
Interviewer:
So she couldn't leave you?
Gurudev:
Yes, you could call it my delusion, or perhaps my ego. But Mother explained to me today, "No matter how much you bind me, I know how to cut through chains." That was my realization today. It made me feel quite sad, but then I felt much lighter after freeing her.
Interviewer:
If you could describe the person through whom you believe Mother gave this sign... what was she like?
Gurudev:
I had never seen her at the crematorium before. Many "mad" people come and go, talking to themselves, and we usually ignore them. But there was no one else here today to shoo her away. She looked to be around thirty or thirty-two years old. She was well-dressed and groomed. She had her hair in a bun with flowers in it. She wasn't exceptionally beautiful, but she had a certain "glamour" or presence.
Gurudev:
She sat at my feet, resting her head on them for a long time. I kept telling her to move, but she didn't say a word. Only when she was leaving did she ask for water. She took the bottle and left. A few moments later, I heard that crying. I thought she had come back, but when we checked, the crematorium was empty. There were no bodies, no people. That's when the shivers really hit me.
Gurudev:
I decided then and there to remove Mother's chain. I am free, and Mother is free.
Interviewer:
It's a profound feeling.
Gurudev:
It was an extraordinary experience. I have seen many things in my life at this crematorium, but this was different. Many people challenged me about the lock and chain, and I endured their comments. But what I saw today... it still gives me goosebumps whenever I think about it. It was Mother saying, "Unchain me; I am someone who cuts chains."
Gurudev:
That was my realization. I immediately told Shyamal to remove the chain.
Interviewer:
Friends, you just heard from Gurudev. Throughout his long spiritual journey at the Shantikunj of Rajpur Maha Shhmashana, he has witnessed many supernatural events. Spirituality is such that until we can explain or truly feel these experiences, they appear to us as miracles.
Gurudev:
I have never seen a woman with a lock and chain on her feet in my entire life. And yet, it was the exact same large lock I had used. When Shyamal confirmed it, I felt a surge of fear—a realization that Mother was telling me to let her go. So, I released her.
Interviewer:
As you have heard, this was another unexpected and supernatural experience that has added to Gurudev's store of wisdom here at Shantikunj. Please continue to watch the videos on our "Gupta Sadhak Shyama Khepa" YouTube channel and share your thoughts in the comments.
