Speaker 1: Greetings, Gurudev.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Greetings. Tell me.
Speaker 1: Gurudev, today we have a desire to know why the condition of Brahmins in today's society is like this.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: It is because of Brahma's curse. Brahma created the Brahmins. They used to sustain themselves through priestly duties (Yajmani), but that wasn't enough for them. Some prominent Brahmins went to Lord Brahma and asked, "What shall we do? You gave us birth, but what is our purpose?" Brahma said, "Alright, I will give the Brahmin community something so that they will never lack food or clothing."
Guru Shyama Khyapa: The Brahmins went back to think it over. They wondered what he would give that would ensure they never lacked anything. They thought, "We are doing well with our priestly duties; we don't want to fall into any trap." So, they rejected Brahma's offer.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Lord Brahma then cursed the Brahmins: "Even with millions, a Brahmin shall remain a beggar." This was a stern curse from Lord Brahma. Since then, through the ages, it is said that Brahmins will lose their essence (Brahmattva).
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Bali Raja, a Brahmin, was once the umbrella-bearer for Lord Narayan. He was meant to descend and remain at Narayan's feet. He is still alive, one of the seven immortals (Chiranjeevi).
Guru Shyama Khyapa: It is prophesied that Shudras will protect the Narayan Shaligram stones. Brahmins will have no rights, nor will they receive any. In a few days, you will see that the Brahmin community will have no significance; Shudras will control everything. You can already see women performing rituals and Shudras conducting prayers. All it takes is a certificate. If someone gets a certificate from Prajapita Brahmakumari after some training, they can perform rituals anywhere. Whether they are Brahmin or not doesn't matter anymore.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: This is the nature of the current age. Brahmins will be marginalized. They will spend their time in idle and meaningless talk, losing their Brahmattva. Even Sage Vishwamitra, who was a Kshatriya, once sought Brahmattva. He went to war and, upon his return, visited Sage Vashistha's ashram. Vashistha had a Kamadhenu (wish-fulfilling cow) that provided everything he needed.
Speaker 1: Whatever he asked for?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Yes, whatever he wanted. Seeing this, Vishwamitra asked for the cow, offering thousands of gold coins and other cows in exchange. Vashistha refused, saying he relied on the cow for his livelihood.
Speaker 1: Then he used force?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Yes, he used force. But the Narayani army emerged from within the cow and defeated Vishwamitra's soldiers. In the end, Vishwamitra, who was proud of being a warrior, realized that being a Brahmin was superior. He handed over his kingdom to his son and went to perform penance to achieve Brahmattva.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Even the Puranas state that Brahmins are superior. But today, no one wants to accept this. Even Chanakya struggled with this. Now, wherever non-Brahmins perform rituals, there are huge crowds, and people are enthusiastic. Brahmins are no longer performing rituals as they used to.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Brahmins have lost their essence due to their own faults and misconduct. They are now even worshipping Shudras. Our Lord Shani is considered a Shudra in certain contexts. Brahmins are worshipping him now.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: In the past, there was a hierarchy among Brahmins. Lower-tier Brahmins handled funeral rites, while higher-tier Brahmins performed great sacrifices and prayers. But the lower-tier Brahmins brought poverty upon the community. Through various misdeeds, Brahmins have reached this state. This is all part of Brahma's curse.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Because you did not accept my gift, I curse you to remain beggars even if you have millions. Brahmins lost their divinity due to misconduct. In the future, you will see women and Shudras performing Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
Speaker 1: Even women are performing weddings now.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Everything! All you need is a certificate. Just the other day, a girl called me and recited the Gita for ten minutes from memory. I was amazed. She told me she recites the Gita regularly. I told her it was very good.
Speaker 1: Can women also perform Chandi Path?
Guru Shyama Khyapa: They are doing it now! Chandi Path, Gita Path—they are doing everything. As I said, a certificate and some training are all you need.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Today's Brahmins lack sincerity, respect, and devotion. They don't even follow the rules of prayer. They don't even recite the Gayatri Mantra, which is essential. You see a Brahmin's son working as a traffic policeman in the morning, ignoring his heritage.
Speaker 1: They are forced by worldly pressures.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: That may be so, but this is how the Brahmin identity will vanish. This is the era of the Shudra; they will rule. Brahmins will lose all influence and status in society.
Speaker 1: And the newer generations aren't learning or accepting the priestly traditions.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: There's no point in even talking about today's Brahmin society. A few may understand a little, but they are often difficult and set in their ways. Nowadays, a Brahmin who performs funeral rites also performs Durga Puja. One shouldn't do both, but they do. I've seen it with my own eyes—funeral rites in the morning and Kali Puja in the evening.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Brahmins cannot maintain their divinity anymore. Shudras will be the ones to protect Narayan. It was prophesied long ago. Women and Shudras weren't allowed to touch the Shaligram stone, but now it is said that Shudras will protect and worship it. Brahmins will have no rights. In a few more days, they will be completely gone—no respect, nothing.
Speaker 1: Thank you, Gurudev. We learned a lot about the decline of Brahmins today.
Guru Shyama Khyapa: Even Vishwamitra admitted that Brahmattva is the ultimate truth.
Speaker 1: We will end here today, Gurudev. Thank you.
