Devotee:
Pranam, Gurudev. Please tell usâthe month of Bhadra has arrived, and Rakhi Purnima is here today. However, you often say that during the month of Bhadra, people should not come to this temple for any specific spiritual work or auspicious tasks. Yet, we see a continuous crowd of devotees every day.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Yes, people are coming every day. They are coming from Malda, Murshidabad, Cooch Behar, and even Assam. I cannot stop them from coming. But I keep telling themâthis is a cremation ground (shamshan). Some people are coming from East and West Midnapore. Since this is a cremation ground, how can they stay here? They are renting rooms nearby, but the fact remains: no auspicious work or good results come from the month of Bhadra.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Nothing good happens in this month. According to some beliefs, girls born in the month of Bhadra are considered Kulata (inauspicious for the lineage). Men born in this monthâluckily, some greats like Vidyasagar were born in Bhadra. Even a former President, perhaps Abdul Kalam, was born in this month. However, in many cases, especially for women, it is seen as an inauspicious time according to the scriptures. Even men born now often struggle to achieve great heights. This month is considered quite unfavorable.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
That is why I tell people: coming from far away right now won't yield results. The only benefit is that I might listen to your problems, but I cannot perform any rituals or offer solutions with my hands during Bhadra. We have followed this rule for a long time.
Devotee:
We have mentioned this in previous episodes as well.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Many times! But who listens? People keep coming every moment. Today alone, 50 to 60 people have arrived. It is becoming difficult. I am repeatedly saying on YouTube: come to visit the Mother (Goddess Kali), but I cannot perform any work for you. In the month of Bhadra, no auspicious work is done. As far as I know, this month holds no spiritual value for the kind of Tantric or spiritual practices we perform. Therefore, we don't take up any cases.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
I request everyone: come to visit, pay your respects, but do not come for specific spiritual tasks. People come and whisper their problems in my earâabout this, about that. It's problematic for us too. People are traveling from Delhi, Mumbai, Madras without informing us. But this is a cremation ground; what can we do?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
People cannot stay here at night. There are only a few people who guard the Mother at night. We cannot provide space for outsiders. There are various issuesâpolice complications, and the municipality or landowners object to people staying here at night. So, I am asking you to wait until the month of Bhadra passes. I can only start working again after that.
Devotee:
You also mentioned that Bhadra is considered a Malla (impure/blocked) month.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Exactly. No auspicious events like weddings, rice-eating ceremonies (Annaprashan), sacred thread ceremonies (Upanayan), or land transactions take place. Our scriptures forbid it. This month is blocked. We want to do good for people; our intentions are noble. But this month is very restrictive for us.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
However, I am still seeing those who are very ill or suffering. I provide them with items or rituals for protection. But for general public problemsâlike I can't eat or my situation is badâplease do not come right now. I have said this on YouTube: if you come now, you will be disappointed, or I may have to ask you to leave.
Devotee:
Friends, the main reason for this video is to reiterate that no spiritual work happens here in Bhadra. People spend a lot of money on trains and planes to get here, but their purpose won't be fulfilled.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Exactly. It's a waste of both time and money. Wait until the month of Ashwin (September-October). People even come for Diksha (initiation) now, but I have to tell them that initiation doesn't happen in Bhadra. Come in Ashwin.
Devotee:
Please come for Darshan (to see the Goddess), but don't bring your problems to Gurudev yet. Normally, no one is turned away from the Shantikunja Ashram, but there are protocols to follow.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
And you know what's strange, Koushik? If I ask someone to leave, they don't listen. They sit in a line. Also, the Delta variant (COVID-19) has started in various places. This is another hurdle. People ask why there is such a crowd.
Devotee:
Yes, some areas are becoming Red Zones again due to Delta Plus. I saw the police putting up barricades today. Given the COVID situation and the fact that no work is being done, please don't overwhelm the residents here. Come back after one month.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
I am forced to make this video because of the daily influx of people. Do not waste your money. I will do as much as possible for everyone starting from the 1st of September.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
I repeat: unless it is a medical emergency or a severe illness, please wait. For example, a gentleman came today with both kidneys damaged and starting dialysis. I gave him a protective ritual item. Emergency cases are different. But for business problems or general issues, I fold my hands and request youâwait until the first week of September.
Devotee:
You heard Gurudev. We made this video so you don't have to face disappointment after a long journey.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
I never want to turn anyone away, but we have our own internal rituals to complete this month. We are performing Homa (fire rituals) every single day right now. We also have secret Tantric duties to finish.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
So, please don't come for work right now, or I will have to ask you to leave. Except for severe illness, like the person I treated this morning who was suffering from a Ban (black magic attack). I treated him, let him rest, and fed him before he left. Such cases I will attend to.
Devotee:
Please respect this request. It will save you from disappointment. Come back to Shantikunja in a month, and Gurudev will help you with your problems.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Pranam.
