Devotee (Interviewer):
Pranam, Gurudeb (Respectful greetings, Guru).
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Pranam, my son, pranam.
Devotee (Interviewer):
Friends, as you can see, sitting right next to Gurudeb is a serene and handsome yogi. He performs 'Homa' (fire rituals) here every day. He is a disciple of Gurudeb.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Many people know him as 'Pagla Baba.' He is my Pagla Baba. He couldn't stay at home anymore, so he came here to be with me. He performs rituals and worships; he lives and eats here for now. He is doing very well. You can say the rest.
Devotee (Pagla Baba):
Actually, I have been coming here to Gurudeb since the Pujas. Just as everyone follows the tradition of leaving on the day of Dashami with everyone's love and blessings, I also left. After going home, I stayed for a day or two, but the pull of 'Ma' (the Goddess) and the pull of Gurudeb... I consider it a great grace upon me. My mind became very restless at home, and I couldn't maintain my patience, so I came back. Since then, I have been under Gurudeb's blessings. Baba has given me a lot. By the grace of Ma and Baba, I am here, and the fire rituals are performed every day. It is going well with Ma's grace. I am practicing meditation under Gurudeb's guidance, and it is going very well. My only wish and prayer is to spend my life serving the feet of Gurudeb and Ma. That is all I desire.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
That's right. But you must visit Kamakhya once soon. I will make the arrangements, don't worry. You should also visit Kashi Vishwanath and Narmada. I would recommend these three places. Visit Kamakhya; I will tell you what work needs to be done there. You need to go to Benares and Narmada. Doing the 'Parikrama' (circumambulation) of these three places is enough. You will receive Ma's blessings. You have already received them since you perform rituals and worship daily. I have also gifted you the red cloth, the trident, and the 'Kamandalu' (water pot). I have nothing else to give you. I am very satisfied with your spiritual practice. You meditate all night and go to the cremation grounds. I like that very much. This is exactly how I practiced and became who I am today, by the grace of Ma and my Guru. My Guru Bama-deb's blessings will always be with you; be 100% sure of that. You will receive the blessings of Bama-deb. I told you, there's no need to chant my name; chant Bama-deb's name. I am not your Guru; Bama-deb is your Guru. If you chant his name, you will find me within him.
Devotee (Pagla Baba):
Yes, that is true.
Devotee (Interviewer):
I want to ask Pagla Baba something. We often see you wearing a black T-shirt and white pants. What is the reason for this?
Devotee (Pagla Baba):
The reason for this is actually sacrifice. Without sacrifice, nothing can be achieved in life. To gain something, one must sacrifice something. It cannot always be about 'I want, I will take, I will eat, I will walk alone.' Actually, the Divine makes arrangements for us even before we are born. When we are in the womb for seven months, food is already sent to the mother's breast for us. When the Divine has shown such grace from the beginning, we should follow that example. Everyone should perform their duties in life, but one should never walk the path of life forgetting Him. Nowadays, everyone is running after money. The difference for us monks is sacrifice. Ordinary people cannot sacrifice, but we try to sacrifice. With the Divine's blessings, we gradually succeed. I was also an ordinary person once; I used to have a job.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
What was your educational background?
Devotee (Pagla Baba):
I have a diploma. I did a diploma in Computer Engineering and Electronics. Then I worked for a long time in the microprocessor field. I was the head engineer at Nokia. Then I was the head engineer at an area service center, managing two or three centers. That was my professional life. Then, by Ma's grace, I had dreams two or three times. After that, I felt Ma was pulling me toward her, and nothing felt good anymore. Then I came to seek refuge with Gurudeb, and he showed me the way. The significance of my dress is sacrifice. If you want to achieve something or practice spirituality, you must sacrifice. This is a symbol of that. My black T-shirt and white pants don't even have a single pocket where I could keep money. I wear these clothes without pockets.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
That is the purpose. And I have given you the red cloth, the 'Kamandalu,' and the trident. I have gifted these three things. I have never done this for anyone else in my life. Give the red cloth the respect it deserves. The dignity of the red color is immense. I am very satisfied with your spiritual practice. You meditate all night and go to the cremation grounds. This is necessary. This is how I did it, and today I have reached this position by the grace of Ma and my Guru. My Guru Bama-deb's blessings will always be with you. I don't know why you came to me, but Ma must have sent you. Perhaps you want the path of sacrifice, and I am also a symbol of sacrifice. I prefer sacrifice and the well-being of others. I hope you will never misuse these gifts I have given you in the name of Bama-deb. Walk this path, and you will find success in life. Your goal of finding God will be fulfilled very soon. You will receive Ma's vision.
Devotee (Interviewer):
Friends, you can see that Gurudeb has fully blessed Pagla Baba. He left a bright future behind to enter the spiritual world. He is a computer engineer! He says he has come for sacrifice and to serve people. It is wonderful to hear. Pagla Baba, do you have anything else to say?
Devotee (Pagla Baba):
No, just Gurudeb's blessings.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Jai Ma. Jai Bama-deb. Jai Gurudeb.
