Devotee:
I have come from Dhubguri. Offering my pranam to Gurudev, I begin my story. I've been coming to Gurudev for a long time. I can't say exactly how Mother Goddess brought me here; only Mother knows. Mother fulfilled many of my heart's desires after I came to Gurudev. I regained the strength I had lost. I had become very weak in many ways—mentally and emotionally due to various pressures. After coming to Gurudev, I am much better in many aspects. I am doing well now, but I can't express everything in words. I offer my million salutations to Gurudev.
Host:
Dear viewers, as you can see, she is overwhelmed with emotion. Her eyes are filling with tears and her voice is choking. Gurudev, she says she is much better after receiving your advice and blessings. What would you like to say about this?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Actually, she experiences a "Bhar" (spiritual trance/possession) of the Goddess. When she first came here, it was a very heavy state. She used to cry out to me constantly. I realized it was a "Bhar." I sprinkled holy water (Ganga jal) and helped her manage it. Since then, she visits me occasionally, maybe once or twice a year. She is a simple person. Her husband also insisted on coming to Gurudev. So, that's why she is here.
Host:
So, you mean her devotion and emotions brought her back here to offer her respects?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
Yes, exactly.
Host:
Yes, please tell us more.
Devotee:
We have a temple of Mother Goddess established at my home. Suddenly, I began performing Mother's puja. I was sick for 15 days, and my family couldn't understand why. Finally, my biological father, who also performs Mother's puja, heard about my illness. He came and tried to perform a traditional "brooming" (cleansing ritual). I became even more ill and fainted. My husband arrived, and when my father tried again, I regained consciousness. He asked, "What do you want? Why have you come? Who are you?"
Devotee:
I didn't say anything at first. My hands and feet were numb and weak. My father kept asking. In my room, there was a photo of the Goddess that I used to offer flowers to. I pointed at the photo and said, "I love her. I want to offer my pranam to her."
Host:
When you say "Mother," which form of the Goddess do you mean?
Devotee:
The Mother—Goddess Shyama Kali, Raksha Kali, or Tara Ma. I offered my pranam to her photo. Then my father understood that it was related to the Mother. The Mother answered all my father's questions through me. I was completely unwell for 15 days and would say things to everyone in the house while in that state. My father asked when I (the entity) would leave and why I came. The answer was that I came on Amavasya (New Moon) on a Tuesday at 2:30 AM. I said I would leave after the Purnima (Full Moon) puja.
Host:
So, you were in an unconscious state for 15 days?
Devotee:
Not exactly unconscious, but I couldn't work. My hands wouldn't move properly. Things would fall from my hands—dishes, everything. I couldn't speak correctly and would faint intermittently. The Mother wanted a physical temple established; she wanted to be manifested in a form. My husband was told that if he built a temple, I would get better. The Mother wanted it too. But I didn't want it. I thought a temple involves many responsibilities, and I just wanted to travel, eat, and enjoy life. Managing a temple is very difficult.
Devotee:
Whenever I said I wouldn't allow a temple, I would feel a strangling sensation in my throat. My tongue would protrude, and my eyes would roll back. My daughter and husband would get very scared and cry. This happened whenever I resisted. Finally, in the month of Chaitra, the Mother gave an order that she must be established in the next Chaitra. We decided to do it on the 14th of Chaitra. Since she was established, I have been healthy.
Host:
Gurudev, I have a question for you. Is there a basis for this trance/possession that she is talking about?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
It has a basis for her, and for me, and for you too. Anyway... tell us how you came to me?
Devotee:
After the temple was established, I started performing puja, though I didn't know much about the rituals. I did what I saw at my father's house. Suddenly, a thought entered my mind that I needed to be initiated with the "Shakti Mantra." I became restless. Where would I get it? From whom? Then, in a vision, I saw Gurudev. He was performing puja under a banyan tree with a pot of water.
Devotee:
I became like a mad person, searching for him. Mother showed me the way, but I still wondered where to find him. Eventually, after we got a mobile phone, I saw an episode on YouTube. I must ask Gurudev to forgive me for what I thought then. When I first saw the video, I said, "Who is this old man appearing again and again? I won't watch this." I was afraid of these things.
Host:
By "old man," you mean Gurudev?
Devotee:
Yes, and I ask for his forgiveness. But no matter how much I tried to skip the video, it would appear again the next day and the day after. I wondered why this video kept coming to me. I decided to watch it. After watching, my mindset changed. I felt I had to go to him. I would find the Shakti Mantra only from him. Mother showed me the way. I told my husband he must take me to Sonarpur in Kolkata. He said he would try.
Devotee:
I was desperate. I was crying all the time. One day, I found a phone number from an old episode. It belonged to a person named Hiranmoy-babu. He picked up, but since it was during the lockdown, he said he couldn't help me with information about the ashram. Then I found Gurudev's number in another episode. Someone else picked up and handed the phone to Gurudev. I told him I was in great mental distress and wanted to visit. Gurudev said, "It's lockdown now, how will you come?" I said I would come as soon as it opened.
Devotee:
This was in 2020. In 2021, I saw an episode where Gurudev said he was going into a "Gupta" (secret/secluded) state and wouldn't be seeing anyone anymore. I cried so much, thinking I would never see him. I fought with my husband, blaming him for not taking me sooner. Suddenly, I received a call. The caller ID showed a photo of Gurudev and Guruma. I picked up, and Gurudev said, "Tell me what you want to say." I told him I wanted to come. He said, "Okay, come." I told him I would arrive on January 27th.
Devotee:
I arrived at the lodge and then came to the ashram at 8:00 AM. Gurudev wasn't there yet. Two people there wouldn't let me in. I felt a surge of energy and forced my way in. After that, I don't know what happened. My family told me later that after I entered, I fell into a state, and eventually, I was seated inside the temple and calmed down. I waited for Gurudev. They asked if I would recognize him. I said, "How could I not recognize my own son?" Then I fell into a trance again.
Devotee:
When Gurudev arrived, I don't remember everything, but I remember one thing: I insisted that Gurudev must feed me. And he did. He personally fed me rice that first day. I have heard about other things that happened, but I don't remember them all.
Host:
Gurudev, I asked earlier about the basis of this trance. She mentioned seeing you under a banyan tree in her vision. That seems like a solid basis. Why did she see you in her trance?
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
These are spiritual matters that happen. You won't find a simple explanation.
Host:
I understand you know the answer but don't want to disclose it.
Guru Shyama Khyapa:
It is a deep matter.

That same day, Gurudev initiated me. After hearing my story today, you can see there is a spiritual relationship. Whether through the trance or otherwise, I believe that after finding Gurudev, I realized Mother brought me here. I feel Gurudev and I have a relationship that spans across many lifetimes—a father-daughter relationship.
Devotee:
I want to say from my heart that Mother gave me the sign that Gurudev is my connection from previous births.
