Host: Dear viewers, good evening. Paying my respects to Mother and Father in Shantikunj, I begin today's episode. Welcome to the newcomers on the Gupta Sadhak Shyama Kapa YouTube channel, and a heartfelt thank you to our old friends for staying by our side. Pranam, Gurudev.
Gurudev: Pranam, Baba, pranam.
Host: Gurudev, a certain matter seems very complex to us. It is this: we have always seen Mahakala or Shiva lying beneath the feet of Mother Kali. But suddenly, we see the opposite—Mahadeva standing with his foot on the chest of Mother Kali. Why is this?
Gurudev: This is referred to as Viparita-Rata-Saktah—it signifies that the reverse action also occurs. There are two main branches of Tantra: Agama and Nigama. One must understand what Agama is and what Nigama is.
Gurudev: Even the way we breathe falls under Agama and Nigama. When we inhale, it is Agama; when we exhale, it is Nigama. We are constantly performing Agama-Nigama through our breath.
Gurudev: In the context of worship, when Mahakala controls Time (Kaal), Mother Kali lies at Mahakala's feet. That is Nigama. In Agama, which is what you commonly see, Shiva is lying down, and Mother Kali has her foot on him. In Agama, Mother Kali is active, and Mahadeva is inactive.
Gurudev: In Nigama, it is the exact opposite. Mother Kali lies at his feet, and Mahakala stands with his foot on Mother Kali's chest. It is a wonder that many people do not know. As I said, Viparita-Rata-Saktah—a reverse action is taking place. Just as the Mother stands on Mahadeva's chest, Mahadeva also stands on the Mother's chest. It is a matter of Time. When Mahakala absorbs or controls Time, this action occurs.
Gurudev: Kaal means Time. This is the difference between Agama and Nigama. In Agama, the Mother (Shakti) is active; in Nigama, the Father (Shiva) is active. In Nigama, the Mother is inactive, yet she still blesses humanity, and Mahadeva grants salvation (Moksha).
Gurudev: There are four aims: Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. Many do not understand the depth of Agama-Nigama, but the explanation is vast. In Agama, the Mother is active, and Mahadeva is inactive. In the reverse, the Mother is inactive, and Mahadeva is active. We see this specifically in the form of Goddess Chinnamasta.
Gurudev: It represents the reverse—a female energy in union over the male energy. Usually, it is seen the other way around, but here it is Viparita. The Mother stands upon Rati and Kamadeva. It signifies the female energy interacting over the male. This exists within our Tantra Shastra.
Host: This was unknown to us. What you've explained about Agama and Nigama clarifies why we see these different depictions of Mahadeva and Kali. You mentioned this was written by Krishnananda Agamavagisha?
Gurudev: Yes, he was the Guru of Ramprasad. Krishnananda Agamavagisha of Halisahar. This is his composition. It is profound and powerful.
Host: So, you are saying we learn this from his texts? He lived about 700 to 800 years ago and documented these traditions, helping people understand. Gurudev, one more question: when this "reverse action" happens, is there any loss of power?
Gurudev: There is no loss of power; it is a matter of controlling Time. Kaal leads to Kali. Whoever is standing on top is the one controlling Time at that moment. Ramprasad once said, "Time passed, O Kali, but the realization did not come. Prasad says life has gone in vain." Here, "Time" refers to both duration and death. It is used in different ways.
Gurudev: In Agama, we see one thing; in Nigama, we see the opposite. In the form of Chinnamasta, we see the female over the male, representing the dominance of primordial energy.
Host: From what you are saying today, I understand that Nature (Prakriti) and the Cosmic Person (Purusha) both hold equal power. They are equal in their authority.
Gurudev: Absolutely. It is the law of Time—the wheel of Time. Time controls everything. One may rise while the other recedes, and then they switch. Time is the ultimate controller.
Host: Friends, like many of you, this was unknown to us until today. Hearing it directly from Gurudev was enlightening. I am sure you found it beneficial as well. Pranam, Gurudev.
Gurudev: Pranam, Baba. As you go deeper into Agama and Nigama, your eyes will truly open. Most of us know nothing of these depths; we only see the outer shell. You cannot enter the core without great spiritual strength.
Host: Thank you, Gurudev.
